Annual Steam Shut Down Scheduled

The UW Physical Plant will shut down the campus steam system beginning at 4:30 p.m., Friday, July 31, through 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 16. Buildings connected to the steam system will not have any building heat or domestic hot water.

The residence halls and cafeterias will have steam through temporary boiler during the shutdown.

The steam distribution system runs through the core campus and includes buildings within the following areas:

South of Lewis to north of Ivinson and east of 9th Street to west of 15th Street, plus the Physical Plant, Anthropology and Ivinson buildings.

South of Willett to north of Grand Avenue and east of 15th Street to west of 22nd Street, but does not include War Memorial Stadium, Rocky Mountain Forest Research Center, the Office Annex and any non-UW buildings in that area.

North of Willett to south of Harney Street, from 19th Street east to the west side of 22nd Street.
