UWPD Gets New Home

May 11, 2009

Starting Tuesday, May 12, the University of Wyoming Police Department will move from its longtime office in the Ivinson Building to a new facility at 1426 E. Flint (the corner of Flint and 15th streets.)

The new police department building, formerly the UniWyo Credit Union, has been renovated to suit the needs of the UW Police Department. With a larger space, the new location offers space for an interview room equipped with audio and video, a secure location for dispatchers, an in-house training room, locker room, evidence room and an indoor bay for securing a vehicle, says Chief Troy Lane.

The upgrades that are a part of this project will bring the UWPD up to current standards for law enforcement departments.

Planning for the space was under way when Lane joined UW in June 2007. Renovating the building took about nine months. Work will continue on the outside of the building as weather permits.

On Tuesday, May 12, the campus-wide fire alarm reporting server will be moved to the new Police Facility between 9:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. There will be no automatic reporting during those times. If a fire alarm goes off in a building during those hours please call 911.
