July 31, 2009 — Human disturbances and changing climates may require new designs for ecological restoration efforts, rather than attempting to restore ecosystems to their historical conditions, according to an article published today (Friday) in the global scientific journal, Science.
July 30, 2009 — University of Wyoming student Jeffery Dannemiller of Cody is the top cadet among the 481 Army ROTC students in his unit at Fort Lewis, Wash.

July 29, 2009 — Mance Hurley, a senior in the technical education program at the University of Wyoming/Casper College (UW/CC) Center, was recently elected secretary of the Technical Education Collegiate Association (TECA), the student division of the International Technical Education Association (ITEA).

July 27, 2009 — The annual steam shutdown begins at 4:30 p.m. Friday, July 31, and ends Sunday, Aug. 16. Buildings connected to the steam system will not have any building heat or domestic hot water. There will be no heat and minimal hot water in selected facilities.

July 18, 2009 — By Diana Marie Waggener -- UW Staff Senate President Chris Clements (Human Resources) presided over her first full senate meeting, July 8. New officers are Tod Scott, vice president (Waste Stream Management Waste Services), Lori Lewis, secretary (College of Business), Angie Bules, parliamentarian (Senior Auxiliary Services) and Al Emmons, member-at-large (Paint Shop). Clements said she wants this year to be one in which Staff Senate becomes more visible to UW staff and looks at new .ideas for fundraising and public relations.

July 18, 2009 — UW President Tom Buchanan has directed the University of Wyoming Geological Museum to reopen on Aug. 24 on a part-time basis for public visits.

July 17, 2009 — University of Wyoming President Tom Buchanan said today he opposes a Senate Appropriations Committee recommendation to relocate a U.S. Department of Agriculture animal disease research laboratory from UW to Manhattan, Kan.
July 16, 2009 — The University of Wyoming Board of Trustees today (Thursday) gave its approval to request legislative authorization for the university to issue bonds for the construction of UW's top capital facilities priority -- a new building to house the university's growing visual arts program.

Staging areas will begin to be set-up for the Cowboy Dorm and Old Power Plant deconstruction. These areas will be the sites for the Robert and Carol Berry Biodiversity and Conservation Center and the School of Energy Resources.
