Campus Recycling Changes Collection Schedule

Beginning today (Monday), Campus Recycling will change its collection schedule from once every two weeks to once a week.

"Some locations will experience a change in normal collection days," says Tod Scott, UW waste stream manager. "Please look for the new schedule to be posted on or near your recycling bins."

Another change is the addition of a drive-through collection point at 15th and Gibbon Street just west of the General Storage building. Containers have been placed to receive bulk recyclables, including plastic, glass, aluminum and cardboard. Recyclable materials may be put into the containers 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

These changes are due to the purchase of an additional recycling collection truck and hiring of additional recycling staff members made possible by the increase in the student recycling fees effective July 1.

"The result of this program expansion is anticipated to include increased collection volumes and improved service levels," Scott says.
