Western States Energy and Environment Committee to Meet Wednesday at UW

The Western States Energy and Environment Symposium Steering Committee, pursuant to 2009 House Bill 295, will meet via teleconference call at noon Wednesday, Sept. 2.

The public is welcome to attend in the School of Energy Resources (SER) conference room on the second floor of the Bureau of Mines Building at the University of Wyoming.

The meeting will be to continue update the agenda and review logistics for the symposium scheduled Oct. 25-27 at Teton Village. The registration Web site and symposium agenda are at www.wsees.com. The agenda for the symposium is also available at registration site.

Legislative leaders from 15 states have indicated they will attend the energy symposium. Robert Stavins, a professor at the Environment and Natural Resources Program at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, is scheduled to give the symposium's keynote address. He has written several books on the economics of energy.

Steering committee members are Wyoming State Sen. John Schiffer; Wyoming State Rep. Tom Lubnau; Michael Peevey, California Public Utilities Commission president; Kyle Davis, director of Environmental Policy and Strategy at PacifiCorp; and Bill Schilling, Wyoming Business Alliance/Wyoming Heritage Foundation president.

The symposium is sponsored by the Wyoming State Legislature and is being facilitated by the SER at UW.
