UW Calendar for Sept. 14-20


September 11, 2009 — These are among the activities scheduled Sept. 14-20 at the University of Wyoming:

Wednesday, Sept. 16, 7 p.m. -- Poet, playwright and experimental filmmaker Claudia Rankine
will present an evening of her poetry and film in Room 306 of the UW Classroom Building. Free.

Thursday, Sept. 17, 1:20 p.m. -- Pete Simi, associate professor at the University of Nebraska, Omaha, presents the Department of Criminal Justice 2009 William D. Griffith address, "American Swastika: Inside the White Power Movement's Hidden Spaces of Hate," Room 306 of the Classroom Building.

Friday, Sept. 18, 7 p.m. -- Religious history scholar Laurie F. Maffly-Kipp will discuss Mormon temple dedications, College of Education auditorium. A reception and light refreshments will follow.

Friday, Sept. 18, 7 p.m. -- The fourth annual Reel Rock Film Tour, College of Agriculture auditorium. Free.

Saturday, Sept. 19, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. -- UW students will have an opportunity to work with community agencies on various service projects around Laramie during "Volunteers in Action Day" Volunteers will meet at 9 a.m. in Simpson Plaza, with lunch and T-shirts provided.

Saturday, Sept. 19, 8 p.m. -- Stand-up comedian Lewis Black will perform in the UW College of Arts and Sciences auditorium. Tickets cost $15 for UW students and $26 for non-students.
