2009 WHSAA Football Championships Come to Laramie Nov. 13-14

All five classifications of the Wyoming High School Activities Association (WHSAA) football championship games will be played Friday and Saturday, Nov. 13-14. in War Memorial Stadium at the University of Wyoming.

Action begins Friday at 11:30 a.m. with the 1A 11-man championship game pitting Lingle-Ft. Laramie against Southeast High School of Yoder, followed by the 2A championship game at 2 p.m. with Thermopolis facing Glenrock.

Saturday's games begin at 10:30 a.m. when Douglas plays Cody for the 3A state championship. At 1 p.m. the 1A 6-man title game will be Kaycee against Guernsey-Sunrise. The final game of the weekend is the 4A state championship at 3:30 p.m., featuring Cheyenne Central and Sheridan.

Tickets to all championship games can be purchased online by going to the WHSAA Web site at Fans also can purchase tickets through the UW Athletics Web site at and click on the "Buy Online" link under the "Ticket" menu at the top of the page.

All-session tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for youth (ages 3-18). Single-day tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for youths. All tickets are general admission. Tickets also will be on sale the days of the games at the main UW Athletics ticket office on the west side of the Arena-Auditorium; at the stadium entrance ticket booth on the east of the Arena-Auditorium; and at the ticket windows on the south side of War Memorial Fieldhouse. All will call tickets are available at the Arena-Auditorium's main ticket office.

General admission seating in War Memorial Stadium for all the high school championship games will be in the lower levels on both the east and west sides of the stadium.

The home team (higher seed) in each classification will be located on the stadium's east sideline and the visiting team (lower seed) will be on the west side.

Parking for all championship games is free and available in the parking lot east of War Memorial Stadium. Additional free parking is available one block east of War Memorial Stadium near the Cowboy baseball field and the Louis S. Madrid Sports Complex.

Fans parked in the stadium lot east of War Memorial Stadium on Friday are asked to move their vehicles by 5 p.m., allowing donors to park in their reserved spots for the UW Cowboy basketball game that night. Free parking for the Cowboy basketball game that evening is available in the parking lot near the Cowboy baseball field and also in the Brown lot, located one block north of War Memorial Stadium, near the American Heritage Center.

The weekend championship games are hosted jointly by the Albany County Tourism Board, the Laramie community and UW, in conjunction with the WHSAA.

During the high school football championship weekend, UW athletic teams will be in action.

For the UW men's basketball game against South Dakota State, the UW Athletics Department is offering $5 tickets to fans of all ages. The game is at 7:30 p.m. in the Arena-Auditorium.

The UW wrestling team will host Northwest College of Powell in a dual Friday at 5 p.m. in the UniWyo Sports Complex. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for youth (ages 3-18).

Fans who are still in town Sunday, Nov. 15 will have an opportunity to see the UW Cowgirl basketball team in action against the University of Montana Grizzlies in the Arena-Auditorium at 2 p.m. Tickets are $4 for all ages.
