UW Women's Club Holiday Home Tour Supports Student Scholarship
November 25, 2009 — One of the highlights of the holiday season in Laramie is the Holiday Home Tour, a University of Wyoming Women's Club event since 1992. This year's tour is Sunday, Dec. 6.
Tickets cost $10 in advance at Ace Hardware, Turtle Rock Coffee and the AmericInn Lodge and Suites. Tickets also are available the day of the tour for $12 at the featured homes.
"The Holiday Home Tour is a great way to learn about the history of our community and to get ideas for decorating for the holidays or remodeling homes," says Kelly Neville Heck, the tour's co-chairwoman.
This year's tour includes homes ranging from a Victorian Cottage-style bungalow built in 1936 to a remodeled 1970s home adorned with antique furnishings. The tour features a variety of styles and decorative tastes.
Unique to the fundraising event this year is a tour of the lobby of the AmericInn, which was designed with Wyoming elegance in mind and has all the ornamentation for the holiday season.
"This event is a great way to support the University Women's Club and our scholarship program while touring some beautiful homes during the holiday season," Heck says.
The Holiday Home Tour generates funds for an annual UW scholarship to assist non-traditional women students in attaining their higher education goals. Last year's award recipient was Diane Kurth, an undergraduate student in speech-language pathology.
In addition to the lobby of the AmericInn, the tour includes stops at homes located at 1007 Sheridan, 1720 Beaufort, 304 South 13th Street and 515 South12th Street.
This home on 13th Street will be showcased during the annual UW Women's Club Holiday Home Tour Sunday, Dec. 6.
