McCuskey Leads International Student Housing Foundation

February 26, 2010 — Beth McCuskey, executive director of Residence Life, Dining Services and the Wyoming Union at the University of Wyoming, is the new chair of an international college housing organization's governing board.

She was named to the Association of College & University Housing Officers-International (ACUHO-I) 2010 Foundation Board. ACUHO-I membership includes thousands of housing professionals from more than 900 colleges and universities in 22 different countries, who serve approximately 1.8 million students worldwide. Members strive to develop exceptional residential experiences for students.

McCuskey, who came to UW in 1999, says the foundation operates exclusively for charitable and educational purposes to support ACUHO-I projects, publications, programs and workshops.

"There is such joy in the student housing profession as we have the opportunity to work with students at such an important time in their lives," she says. "In Residence Life & Dining Services at UW, we strive to create environments that support student success both in and out of the classroom."

She has served as a faculty member for ACUHO-I's Chief Housing Officer Training Institute and National Housing Training Institute, and helped to conceptualize the AIMHO College, an institute for new housing professionals in region. McCuskey has published several articles and co-edited a book, "Foundations: Strategies for the Future of Collegiate Housing," published in 2006 by ACUHO-I.
