Companies can tap into the University of Wyoming College of Business' talent by taking advantage of its internship program.
"The College of Business offers an opportunity for companies to use talented students who, prepared in the classroom and through faculty and staff advising, can make meaningful contributions to a variety of businesses," says Steve Farkas, internship program director.
The UW students have various levels of business education ranging from introductory business to graduate level courses. Summer internship positions should be filled by the end of UW's spring semester, May 8. Businesses, government agencies and non-profit organizations are encouraged to participate. Exact dates and rate of pay are arranged by the intern and employer.
"The internship program creates a win-win opportunity whereby companies engage our UW business students to benefit their organizations and in turn the students receive practical, working knowledge of the industries they have chosen to pursue for their careers," Farkas says. "Our internship program initiates a pipeline of talent to prospective employers."
Business students who have fulfilled the required prerequisites work for a minimum of 240 hours on projects or jobs designated by the sponsoring company. Participating students can receive college credit upon project approval.
During their internships, students are required to prepare various reports about their experience that are reviewed by the program director. The final reports are made available to the sponsoring companies.
Companies wishing to sponsor an intern need to complete and return an employer application and provide a company brochure, description of the organization's activities and detailed job description.
