UW Trustees Approve Personnel Appointments

University of Wyoming trustees approved the following personnel appointments during their business meeting Friday:

Faculty Appointments:

College of Agriculture and Natural Resources

L. Steven Smutko as professor in the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics. Smutko received a B.S. (1978) in outdoor recreation from Colorado State University, an M.C.R.P. (1982) in community and regional planning from North Dakota State University and a Ph.D. (1995) in economics from Auburn University, Alabama.

Hermann Schatzl as professor in the Department of Veterinary Sciences. Schatzl received a Studies of Medicine degree (1989) at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich, Germany and an M.D. (1991) in retrovirology at Max von Pettenkofer-Institute for Microbiology and Hygiene.

College of Health Sciences

Zachory F. Deiss and Cora F. Salvino, both as clinical assistant professors in the Family Medicine Residency Program, Casper.

Academic Professionals:

College of Agriculture and Natural Resources

Justin Jones as associate research scientist in the Department of Molecular Biology. Jones received his B.S. (1998) and M.S. (2000) degrees in molecular biology from the University of Wyoming.

Changes in Appointments:

College of Arts & Sciences

Ricki L. Klages steps down for one semester as department head in the Department of Art and Mark E. Ritchie becomes acting department head.

Robert A. Schuhmann as department head in the Department of Criminal Justice.
