UW Employees Honored at Staff Recognition Day
April 28, 2010 — Dora Montez, senior accounting associate for the Department of Psychology, today (Wednesday) was named the University of Wyoming's outstanding employee of the year during annual Staff Recognition Day at UW. Pepsi and UniWyo Federal Credit Union sponsored the award.

Mobile Printing Studio Parks at UW
April 26, 2010 — Artists Nick Alley and Laramie native Ryan O'Malley of Drive-By Press, a mobile-printmaking studio, will share their knowledge of contemporary prints and perform relief printmaking demonstrations Monday and Tuesday, April 26-27, at the University of Wyoming.
Staff Recognition Day is Wednesday
April 26, 2010 — Staff Recognition Day is scheduled for Wednesday, April 28, from 10 a.m.-noon in the Crane Dining Hall. President Buchanan is allowing two hours of release time to attend the event.

April 23, 2010 — Christopher MacLellan of Cheyenne, is the 2010 winner of the Tobin Memorial Award as the University of Wyoming's outstanding graduating man.
Daniel Galbreath is UW's Top Music Major
April 23, 2010 — Daniel Galbreath of Laramie received the Presser Foundation Scholarship recognizing the outstanding senior music major in the University of Wyoming Department of Music.
Ellbogen Center Teaching Colloquium Set

UW to Host Women in Science Conference
April 22, 2010 — Nearly 500 junior and senior high school students from more than 15 Wyoming communities have registered for this year's Women in Science - Expanding Your Horizons (WIS-EYH) Conference scheduled Tuesday, May 11, at the University of Wyoming.
Verizon Phone Service Not Working
April 22, 2010 — A Verizon Wireless spokesman says technicians are working to restore phone service to customers in northern Colorado and southern Wyoming, including the Laramie and Cheyenne areas. He says it appears a switch, which routes wireless calls, failed around 2 a.m. Workers have been trying to fix the problem and say they hope to have it fixed later today.

UW Offers Negotiated Gas Rate to Employees and Retirees
April 20, 2010 — The University of Wyoming is offering employees and retirees an opportunity to choose between two special negotiated natural gas rates under the Choice Gas program. Employees who have not selected a supplier and rate have until 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 27, to sign up for the special UW rate. A spreadsheet to compare last year's UW rate with the pass through rate can be found on the Web here.

UW's AHC Finishes Major Digitization Project
April 13, 2010 — The American Heritage Center (AHC) -- the University of Wyoming's manuscript repository, university archives and rare books library -- has completed a project to digitize and preserve thousands of photographic negatives from early 20th century Laramie photographer Henning Svenson and his studio, the Ludwig-Svenson Studios.

KJ Reddy Receives UW's George Duke Humphrey Award
April 12, 2010 — One by one, the student evaluation forms were tabulated. "On a scale of 1 to 5, how do you rate Professor KJ Reddy's workshop presentations on coalbed methane?" The results were unanimous. Every student in the workshop marked 5 in all of the evaluated categories. Many described the training as "excellent" and praised the instructor's enthusiasm for the subject.

UW's Contributions to Geology Now Electronically Available on GeoScienceWorld
April 9, 2010 — The University of Wyoming Department of Geology and Geophysics recently completed a major electronic conversion of the scientific journal "Contributions to Geology." It is the predecessor journal of "Rocky Mountain Geology" (RMG), a peer-reviewed scientific journal published biannually by UW.

April 9, 2010 — The Radio Television Digital News Association has awarded Wyoming Public Radio reporter Addie Goss a 2010 regional Edward R. Murrow award.
Three to Receive UW Honorary Degrees
April 8, 2010 — The University of Wyoming will confer its highest award, the honorary doctoral degree, upon successful businessman and entrepreneur Gus Fleischli of Cheyenne, Renaissance scholar Alvin Kernan and long-time state and federal public servant John Turner of Teton County. They will be recognized during UW commencement ceremonies May 8.
Stickley Accepts World Bank Appointment
April 2, 2010 — The World Bank has appointed Dennis Stickley, visiting professor in the University of Wyoming College of Law, to a panel of experts on mineral development.
