April 2, 2010

The World Bank has appointed Dennis Stickley, visiting professor in the University of Wyoming College of Law, to a panel of experts on mineral development.

Under the Extractive Industries Technical Advisory Services, governments request expert assistance with technical, legal and economic issues confronting the development of their mineral industries. Stickley was appointed as an expert adviser on petroleum law and policy. He currently instructs courses on oil and gas law, energy law and policy and international oil and gas law with support from the School of Energy Resources.

A Laramie native who received both his J.D. and M.S. (in resource economics) from UW, Stickley spent 17 years as a seminar director for the Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law & Policy at the University of Dundee in Scotland, one of the world's leading institutes for oil and gas law and economics. His experiences there and throughout his 30 years of practice have led him to be listed in the Guide to the World's Leading Energy and Natural Resources Lawyers.
