Cole Ehmke and Amy Lea are listed on the Casper Star Tribune's sixth annual "20 Under
40" list that honors Wyomingites under age 40.
A University of Wyoming faculty and staff member are among 20 residents statewide selected for the Casper Star Tribune's sixth annual "20 Under 40" list that honors Wyomingites under age 40.
They are Cole Ehmke, an extension specialist in agricultural entrepreneurship and personal finance in the UW Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics, and Amy Lea, Wyoming Entrepreneur Procurement Technical Assistance Center program manager in the Thermopolis Wyoming Small Business Development Center (WSBDC) office.
According to the Casper Star Tribune's criteria in selecting the "20 Under 40" people who are honored, the list does not aim to identify Wyoming's 20 smartest young people, most powerful or the most successful, but rather recognize "inspiring stand outs among the many young people whose talents are hard work and helping to build Wyoming.
"By honoring these individuals, we hope to encourage other Wyomingites to pursue personal achievement and public service in the Cowboy State," according to the newspaper. The Casper Star Tribune relies on its readers to make recommendations each year.
As an extension specialist for the UW College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Ehmke focuses on personal financial resource management as well as agricultural entrepreneurship. In his position, he reaches out to -- and answers calls from -- people and businesses dealing in those areas from all corners of Wyoming.
As a specialist, he serve the county-based educators across the state as well as the public's need for information in his two specialty areas.
Lea has worked for the Wyoming Entrepreneur Procurement Technical Assistance Center for about a year. The organization works with Wyoming businesses doing government contract work. Wyoming Entrepreneur is a network of economic development entities at UW within the WSBDC, which is a partnership of the university, the Wyoming Business Council and the U.S. Small Business Administration.
