Registration Opens for the UW Fall Outdoor Experience

June 10, 2010

Registration is now open for the University of Wyoming Fall Outdoor Experience, a wilderness-type orientation program exclusively for incoming freshmen.

Scheduled Aug. 16-19, the program offers participants a choice among canoeing, caving, rock climbing, backpacking, mountain biking and a service project with the Wyoming Conservation Corps (WCC). The program costs $150, or $100 for WCC participants.

"During the past 10 years we've offered this program, we've had the opportunity to introduce hundreds of UW students to the great outdoor resources southeast Wyoming has to offer," says Dan McCoy, Outdoor Program coordinator.

Limited to only 70 students, the program provides an opportunity to move into the residence halls early, starting Sunday, Aug. 15.

Participants do not need to be "outdoor experts," McCoy says. The activities are intended to "introduce students to new activities, new friends and southeast Wyoming."
