University of Wyoming students volunteered to help Habitat for Humanity of Laramie County paint and put the finishing touches on two Habitat homes in Cheyenne.

More than 120 volunteers gave their time to help on the Blitz Build project.

Cameron Nazminia, president of the Associated Students of the University of Wyoming, was among the volunteers.

"It was a lot of fun and a great experience," says Nazminia. "I want to explore new thresholds for ASUW and do things just a little bit differently than they have historically been done."

This initiative project encourages youths to get involved in a positive and constructive manner. Volunteers painted the interior and exterior of the two Habitat homes. The Home Depot Corporation donated $2,500 for paint and accessories. Warren Federal Credit Union sponsored the event with an additional $1,500 donation.

"This was an excellent opportunity to interact and contribute in a beneficial setting. It indicated UW's connection to not just the Laramie community, but the state of Wyoming as a whole," says Michael Morris of Cheyenne, UW student and Habitat for Humanity of Laramie County Blitz Build project coordinator.

"This opportunity allowed us to bond, talk, and do some good," says Nazminia. "It felt good to be volunteering for a great cause."
