Campus Police Emphasize Safety

August 23, 2010

With the beginning of a new semester, the University of Wyoming Police Department is reminding everyone to adhere to traffic safety regulations both on campus and in adjacent areas.

"With the influx of thousands of people, we will enforce the 20 mph speed limit in effect on the campus perimeter, and again remind everyone that state law requires motorists to yield to pedestrians," says Troy Lane, UWPD chief. "And to encourage bicycle safety and courtesy, we remind cyclists to walk their bikes in the designated dismount zones at high-pedestrian areas throughout the campus."

He says UWPD will strictly enforce parking regulations on the city streets surrounding campus.

Additionally, parking regulations will be enforced throughout campus by University of Wyoming Transit and Parking Services. Parking regulations and enforcement guidelines may be found here.

Parking is enforced 24 hours a day, seven days a week in Residence Halls ("R", "A", and metered spaces) as well as in all yellow zones, fire lanes, spaces marked by the universal disability access symbol and "U" spaces throughout campus.
