August 30, 2010 — How (Not) to Understand India through Bollywood Cinema a special presentation on Thursday, Sept. 30 (4pm, CR 314) by Mir Ali Husain, Management Studies Professor, New York Institute of Technology and film lyricist What are the most controversial aspects of Bollywood movies? How have the plots and characters in Bollywood movies dramatically changed after India opened its markets and changed its film distribution system? How do these films mirror and reinforce significant geopolitical shifts? The talk will answer these questions and more! UW Closed Labor Day

August 30, 2010 — Most University of Wyoming offices will be closed and classes dismissed Monday, Sept. 6, for the Labor Day holiday. Regular hours (8 a.m.-5 p.m.) will resume Tuesday, Sept. 7. Coe Library will be open Saturday, Sept. 4, from noon-4 p.m. and will be closed Sunday and Monday.

Fall 2010 Faculty International Travel Grant Competition Now Open

August 24, 2010 — The UW International Programs Office, in conjunction with the Provost's Office, announces the Fall 2010 Travel Grant Competition. All UW faculty and academic staff are invited to submit proposals for funding of up to $2,000 per project for travel that will further the goals of internationalization at UW. The deadline to submit to department and unit heads is October 1, 2010. UW Trustees Approve Supplemental Budget Request

August 24, 2010 — The University of Wyoming Board of Trustees approved all four agenda items -- including the fiscal year 2011-12 supplemental budget request -- during a special meeting today (Tuesday) by teleconference.

August 22, 2010 — A free special presentation, Cultivation of Internal Energy, is being offered Wednesday night August 25, 7:30-9:30 PM in the Education Building Gym. Dr. Tim Sheehan will be giving a special presentation on Chinese martial arts, health, and internal training. Dr. Sheehan a 31-year veteran Instructor of Martial Arts and Founder (in 1989) of Medicine Wheel Acupuncture Center in Cheyenne, WY, has studied Indonesian, Indian, Chinese, and Filipino martial arts for over 40 years. After the presentation, we will have a meeting for those wanting to apply for membership in the new campus martial arts club, the Asian Martial Arts Association. Find out how you can get involved. University of Wyoming Goes Paperless with Pay Stubs
