Activist Dan Choi to Speak at UW

September 30, 2010

Lt. Dan Choi, a former American infantry officer in the United States Army who served in combat in the Iraq war from 2006-2007, will speak Wednesday, Oct. 6, at 8 p.m. in the University of Wyoming Union ballroom. The event, part of the Student Activity Council's weekly programming series, is free and open to the public.

Choi became a lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender advocacy rights activist following his coming out on "The Rachel Maddow Show" in March 2009. He has been publicly challenging America's Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy, which forbids lesbian, bisexual and gay service members from serving openly.

Individuals with disabilities needing accommodations to participate in this event should contact the UW Campus Activities Center at (307) 766-6340 or sac@uwyo.edu.
