UW Tech Forum Offers New Teaching Possibilities

September 15, 2010 — The University of Wyoming will host a free technology forum Sept. 30-Oct. 1 to help teachers discover and share new ways of using technology to enhance student learning.

In its second year, "E-volution: Innovations in Learning Environments," will explore how teachers can use technology in the classroom to teach students in new and exciting ways. The forum will feature several sessions with hands-on technology presentations, ranging from how to use computer games to engage students to how to set up and deliver podcasts.

This year's expanded forum will include two featured speakers and numerous presentations about how others are using technology to teach.

Keynote speaker Jeff Borden, senior director of teaching and learning at Pearson eCollege, will entertain and inform using his depth of experience with teaching with technology. Janis Bruwelheide, professor of curriculum and instruction at Montana State University, will discuss copyright and plagiarism issues regarding technology.

The forum is free, and participants are welcome to attend any or all of the sessions. Participants can attend in person on the UW campus or through their computers via Elluminate, a Web conferencing platform with live video and sound. All the sessions will be available online for video streaming after the forum.

The forum is sponsored by the University of Wyoming Outreach School, the Ellbogen Center for Teaching & Learning, UW Libraries, and the Wyoming School-University Partnership.
