Don Roth has added another title to his already impressive resume at the University
of Wyoming.
The director of the university's Science Posse and Biomedical Science Program, Roth
took over July 1 as associate director for academics in the UW School of Energy Resources
(SER). His primary responsibilities include administrating the undergraduate Energy
Resource Science degree, developing new graduate programs, facilitating collaborative
academic initiatives with UW departments and colleges and enhancing partnerships with
private sector companies, public and governmental entities and other academic institutions
relative to energy education opportunities.
"UW is well positioned to be a global leader in energy education. And the School of
Energy Resources is committed to realizing this vision by developing productive partnerships
with energy stakeholders at UW, throughout Wyoming, nationally and internationally,"
says Roth, also a professor in the Department of Molecular Biology. "To be able to
contribute to this exciting enterprise and to make a difference in the lives of students
and to the state of Wyoming is a tremendous opportunity. I look forward to bringing
innovative approaches, a focus on performance and a sense of urgency to the academic
component of SER."
Before his appointment in the SER, Roth served as dean of the now-defunct UW Graduate
School from 2003-2009.
