Kay Persichitte, dean of the University of Wyoming College of Education, recently was elected to serve a four-year term beginning in January as the Wyoming educator representative on the Mid-continent Research for Education and Learning (McREL) Board of Directors.

McREL is a U.S. Department of Education-funded regional educational laboratory that provides research-based guidance to educators in a seven-state region. The organization is recognized as a leader in the education staff development and services market.

Persichitte says she is excited about this opportunity to contribute to this well-respected organization that is "making a difference in the quality of education and learning for all through excellence in applied research, product development, and service."

Before being named dean in 2008, Persichitte guided the university's teacher education program for five years, with responsibilities for administration and review of programs, accreditation, budgeting, personnel and policy.
