University of Wyoming Calendar for Oct. 11

These are among activities scheduled Oct. 11-17 at the University of Wyoming:

Monday, Oct. 11, 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. -- Gallery Walk Through: Binh Danh: Life, Times and Matters of the Swamp. Centennial Complex at 2111 Willett Drive. An art talk is scheduled at 7 p.m. both are free and open to the public.

Monday, Oct. 11, 2:30 p.m. -  Kurt Wuthrich, a Nobel Prize in chemistry recipient, will present a public lecture, "Secrets of chronic wasting disease in deer and elk revealed," College of Agriculture auditorium. Free.

Tuesday, Oct. 12, 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. -- ASUW pig roast in Prexy's Pasture.

Tuesday, Oct. 12, noon-1 p.m. -- The UW Readership Program presents Times Talks, "The Future of U.S. Space Exploration" with The New York Times Science Reporter Kenneth Chang. Wyoming Union Yellowstone Ballroom. Free and open to the public.

Tuesday, Oct. 12, 6-8 p.m. -- Associated Students of UW and Wyoming Public Radio will host a debate featuring Wyoming state superintendent of public instruction candidates at 6 p.m., followed by the candidates for governor at 7 p.m.,  Wyoming Union Ballroom. Free.

Wednesday, Oct. 13, 8 p.m. -- Comedian Ron White performs in the Arts and Sciences auditorium. Tickets, $18 for UW students and $28 for others, are available at the Wyoming Union information desk, the Fine Arts Center box office and online at http://uwyo.edu/finearts.

Thursday, Oct. 14, 9-11 a.m. -- Homecoming dance with Chancey Williams and the Younger Brothers Band, Wyoming Union ballroom.

Thursday, Oct. 14, 7 p.m. -- UW Volleyball vs. New Mexico, UniWyo Sports Complex.

Thursday, Oct. 14, 7 p.m.-- UW Homecoming Sing, Arts and Sciences auditorium.

Thursday, Oct. 14, 7:30-9 p.m -- UW Symphony: Elgar Cello Concerto,  UW Fine Arts concert hall. Call (307) 766-6666 for tickets or visit http://uwyo.edu/finearts.

Friday, Oct. 15, 3 p.m. -- Keith and Thyra Thomson Honors Convocation in the Arts and Sciences auditorium.

Friday, Oct. 15, 3 p.m. -- Offshore well drilling manager for Shell E&P-Americas, Joe Leimkuhler, will speak in the College of Agriculture auditorium.

Friday, Oct. 15, 7:30 p.m. -- Richard Sherman performs music by French composers, Fine Arts Center concert hall. Tickets cost $7 for the public and $5 for students and senior citizens. Tickets may be purchased from the Fine Arts box office and online at http://uwyo.edu/finearts.    

Saturday, Oct. 16, 10 a.m. -- UW Homecoming Parade begins at 9th Street and Ivinson Avenue. and will go west to 2nd Street, south on 2nd Street to Grand Avenue, east on Grand Avenue and disperse at 12th Street.    

Saturday, Oct. 16, 1 p.m. -- UW Volleyball vs. TCU in the UniWyo Sports Complex.

Saturday, Oct. 16, 4 p.m. -- Football, UW vs. Utah at War Memorial Stadium.
