The University of Wyoming has launched a new central calendaring system, Tzolk'in.
Powered by Trumba Corporation, a Seattle-based developer of novel event calendar publishing
technology, Tzolk'in will serve as an effective tool for students, faculty, staff,
alumni, parents and the general public to stay informed about what's happening on
the UW campus.
The interactive, user-friendly calendar provides an organized listing of university
events. Users are able to view and submit event information, send events to their
personal calendars, receive e-mail and text message reminders and notifications of
event changes and browse by event category.
"We want our students to be actively engaged in various activities that UW has to
offer and it's our responsibility to make that information easy to find and readily
available to our students in a central location," says Sara Axelson, the university's
vice president for student affairs. "Our hope is that Tzolk'in will accomplish this
goal and we are excited about launching this product here at UW."
Tzolk'in is the name bestowed by Mayanists on the 260-day Mesoamerican calendar used
by the Maya civilization of pre-Columbian Mesoamerica.
