More than 11,600 University of Wyoming students, faculty and staff received a text
message on their cell phones within minutes after it was sent Thursday in a system-wide
test of the university's text notification system, UW Alert.
An e-mail message was also sent to all exchange users. In the event of a real emergency,
those signed up for the UW Alert system would have received specific instructions.
The text alert system (www.uwyo.edu/uwalert), one of many safety initiatives in place
at UW, provides a means to quickly reach as many members of the university community
as possible.
