Jane L. Tanner Awards for Study Abroad Scholarships Available

Study abroad awards for English majors attending the University of Wyoming are available. Application deadline is Friday, Nov. 19.

Ranging from $1,000-$3,000, the Jane L. Tanner Study Abroad awards are available for English majors pursuing a semester or more of study abroad. Smaller awards of $500 or more are available for less than a semester of study.

Award recipients must be undergraduates with at least sophomore standing who have a 3.0 grade point average or better. The award can fund up to 80 percent of the cost to study abroad.

To apply, students must submit a one-page letter detailing plans for study abroad and how the experience might enhance their education. Students should also include a tentative travel schedule and rough estimate of total expenses; indicate whether they have already applied or been accepted in the international program; and obtain a confidential letter of recommendation from a Department of English faculty member.

Applicants should be submitted to Professor Clifford Marks, scholarship committee chairman, Hoyt Hall 201, Department of English, University of Wyoming, 1000 E. University Ave., Laramie, Wyo. 82071.

Award winners will be notified by Wednesday, Nov. 24.
