UW Hockey Club Loses Two Games

January 24, 2011

The University of Wyoming hockey club suffered a pair of losses last weekend to Border War rival Colorado State University.

The Cowboys fell 6-1 Friday night at the Laramie Ice and Events Center and 7-1 Saturday night at EPIC Ice Arena in Fort Collins. UW has lost five of six games following a four-game winning streak to end November to fall to 6-11-1.

Mitch Nelson (Sheridan) and Taylor Freeman (Parker, Colo.) scored the Cowboys' only goals against the Rams, who completed a four-game season sweep. Mitch Mayfield (Powell) had the only UW assist last weekend.

The Cowboys face off against Mesa State College this weekend. The teams meet at 8 p.m. Friday in Laramie and at a to-be-determined time Saturday at the Taco John's Events Center in Cheyenne.
