Some of the world's more inspiring action films will be shown during the 2011 Banff Mountain Film Festival world tour at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23, and Thursday, Feb. 24, in the University of Wyoming Arts and Sciences auditorium.

The free presentations of films are open to the public.

The Banff Mountain Film Festival, a program of The Banff Centre, is the world's largest, and most prestigious, mountain festivals in the world. This year's tour features a collection of the festival's most inspiring action, environmental, and adventure films.

"Traveling to exotic landscapes and remote cultures, and bringing audiences up-close and personal with adrenaline-packed action sports, the 2010/2011 World Tour is an exhilarating and provocative exploration of the mountain world," a reviewer wrote.

The UW presentation, sponsored by the UW Outdoor Program and the Student Activities Council, will include many award-winning feature films each night, focusing on mountain culture and sports.
