These are among the construction activities scheduled Feb. 27-March 5 at the University of Wyoming:
Notice: Workers continue to repair a chilled water leak approximately 50 feet northeast of the Physical Sciences Building. This work will continue through March 11. Use caution around moving equipment in the area.
The UW Facilities Planning Office reports the following activities scheduled for the week:
State Fiscal Stabilization Fund Modernization, Renovation and Repairs -- (Scheduled completion, fall 2011.) The project focuses on major maintenance items, ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) improvements and classroom improvements. Electrical rough-ins will continue and wall finish and texturing will start in the Engineering, Aven Nelson, Geology and Agriculture buildings.
Energy Resources Center (1020 Lewis Street, scheduled to be completed in summer, 2012) -- The contractor has completed site cleanup by the Berry Center. Fencing has been reconfigured to secure the site, and Lewis Street will remain closed during construction.
UW Tennis Facility (Armory Road across from Little League Complex, scheduled completion: March, 2011) -- Post-tensioned slabs will be installed, and paneling work is scheduled in the link section.
Downey Hall Renovation -- Work on the front entrance will continue. Carpet installation will occur on the third and fourth floors. Painting will conclude p on the second floor. Utility rough-ins will wrap up on the ground floor. Pre-punch list work will start on the top floor.
Visual Arts Center (22nd Street and Willett Drive near the
Centennial Complex, scheduled completion is late fall, 2011) -- Footing work is
near completion and foundation work will continue. Excavation and underground
utility work will proceed as weather permits. There will be frequent heavy
construction traffic for delivery of materials throughout the week.
Steel erection will continue for several weeks. Masonry work
for the wall continues continuing on the south. A temporary enclosure of the west
structure provides protection for the start of floor slabs and interior
rough-in. Be aware that there will be construction traffic throughout the
construction period. Foot and vehicular traffic will not be permitted across
the site.
Summit View Apartment Deconstruction Phase II -- A six-block area is fenced off, so pedestrian and vehicle traffic will need to go around this area. Work will resume in the spring.
Biological Safety Level 3 (BSL3) additions to the State Veterinary Laboratory -- Functional testing is under way and will continue.
The UW Physical Plant reports the following activities for the week:
Stimulus Project -- Work continues in the Physical Sciences, Biological Sciences and Pharmacy buildings. In Physical Sciences, the men's restroom will be closed in the basement, on the second floor and the fourth floor for approximately the next two weeks. In Biological Sciences, only the second floor men's restroom will be closed for approximately two more weeks.
Aven Nelson Building -- Window replacement continues. The west parking lot has been closed and fenced for construction staging throughout the project. The west entrance is closed, but will be available for emergency exit if needed; please use other entrances to the building. Scaffolding has been moved to the east side of the building. The east entrance will remain open. Use caution around work areas.
Coe Library -- Carpenters are installing a picture rail in the hallway leading to room 309. Use caution in this area. Installation of security cameras on the first and third floors, and in the basement, continues. Please use caution around the work areas.
College of Agriculture Building -- Painting in the second floor hallway is complete. Painting in the first floor hallway is under way. Use caution around work areas.
Anthropology Building -- Work on the ceiling in the foyer of the south main entrance is complete.
Fine Arts -- Painting and carpeting of the Green Room entrance to the theater stage is complete.
Campus -- The house foundations at 9th and Grand, 11th between Grand and Ivinson, and the north side of Lewis between 11th and 12th will be filled and graded as weather permits. Parking will be affected and heavy equipment will be in use in these locations.
Snow Removal -- Snow and ice removal will occur as needed throughout the winter. Use caution around snow removal equipment and be safe walking, riding and driving on the snow.
