College Access Grant Depends on Filing FAFSA by Tuesday, March 1

February 25, 2011 — Prospective college students and their parents are reminded that to be eligible for the College Access Grant, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid must be completed and filed by Tuesday, March 1.

This need-based grant can be used by students at any college or university in the United States, including the University of Wyoming and Wyoming community colleges. No separate application for this program exists.

Approximately 650 grants for $1,000 will be awarded through the Wyoming College Access Challenge Grant program to students who graduate from a Wyoming high school in the spring of 2011. This is twice the amount that has been available in prior years.

Due to funding restrictions, the grant cannot be deferred and must be used in the fall of 2011. It can be combined with other grants and scholarships.

Funding for this program comes from the Wyoming College Access Grant. The goal of the grant is to increase access and persistence in higher education for Wyoming residents. The College Access Grant is one of 12 initiatives designed to achieve that goal.
