The University of Wyoming's Theatre and Dance Department will host the 17th annual Snowy Range Summer Dance Festival July 20-31, highlighted by public performances.
The student showcase begins at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, in the UW College of Arts and Sciences Auditorium and is free to the public.
The festival will conclude with the Gala Concert at 4 p.m. Saturday, July 30, in the College of Arts and Sciences auditorium. The Gala Concert showcases works created by guest faculty and features student dancers, as well as performances by members of the Oregon Ballet Theatre and Jump Rhythm Jazz project.
Students will participate in 11 days of intensive study with distinguished faculty from around the country. Modern, ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop and specialty classes will be taught by Vincent Brosseau, Susan Israel Massey, Yoav Kaddar, Kaye Richards, Keith Saunders, Tony Waag and Maurice Watson.
This year's professional resident companies include Oregon Ballet Theatre of Portland and Chicago's Jump Rhythm Jazz Project. In addition to master classes, festival activities include seminars, student performances, lectures and two evenings of discussion with teaching faculty.
