University of Wyoming Calendar for July 4

These are among the activities scheduled July 4-10 at the University of Wyoming:

Monday, July 4, 10 a.m. -- The Laramie Municipal Band, directed by UW Professor Robert Belser, will be among acts performing during "Freedom has a Birthday" activities at Washington Park. Free.

Tuesday, July 5- Saturday, July 9 -- "From the Scottish Sublime to the American West, Selected Works from the University of Wyoming," can be seen at the UW Art Museum in the Centennial Complex. Free.

Tuesday, July 5, 7 p.m. -- The international "Walter Scott: Sheriff or Outlaw" conference will feature "Frontier Scots," a discussion by Jeni Calder, vice chair of Scotland's Literature Forum and conference speaker, in conjunction with the exhibition "From the Scottish Sublime to the American West" and at the UW Art Museum. Free.

Wednesday, July 6, 7 p.m. -- The international "Walter Scott: Sheriff or Outlaw" conference continues with keynote speaker Diana Gabaldon, author of the "Outlander" novels. The discussion will be followed by a book signing in the Wyoming Union Ballroom. Free.

Wednesday, July 6, 11:45 a.m.-1 p.m. -- Texas band The Lonesome Heroes will perform as part of a weekly series of lunch time concerts at UW's Simpson Plaza. Free.

Wednesday, July 6, 7:30 p.m. -- The Laramie Municipal Band concert series continues at the Washington Park band shell. Free.

Saturday, July 9, 10 a.m. -- UW units participate in the annual Laramie Jubilee Days parade.
