UW's 21st Annual Family Weekend Scheduled Sept. 9-11
The University of Wyoming's annual Family Weekend celebration is scheduled for Sept. 9-11, providing families with an opportunity to learn more about and share their student's experiences at the university.
Many families who have attended in the past have said it was a memorable and fun event.
"Family Weekend is a great experience," says former Cowboy Parents council member, Terry DeFelice of Blacklick, Ohio. "Not only do you get to spend time with your son or daughter, but you get to enjoy all the festivities and meet with key UW faculty, staff, and administrators. It's a really nice weekend. The university works hard to keep parents connected and it's appreciated!"
Events planned for this year begin Friday, Sept. 9, with a 9 p.m. free presentation at the College of Education auditorium by Michael C. Anthony, a mentalist who was named the Male Performer of the Year by Campus Activities Magazine.
Saturday begins with a family fun run/walk, followed by a silent auction, and a brunch with the college deans. Saturday afternoon activities include festivities at Tailgate Park, the UW vs. Texas State football game, a historical campus tour or an outdoor activity showcasing the beautiful scenery of the Vedauwoo area east of Laramie.
The weekend concludes Sunday morning with the capstone President's Brunch hosted by UW President Tom Buchanan and his wife, Jacque. There will be other optional events hosted by campus departments for families.
See www.uwyo.edu/cowboyparents for more information on cost, lodging, and the complete 2011 schedule, including additional activities at UW during Family Weekend. Laramie lodging fills fast on football weekends, so early reservations are encouraged.
