A Wyoming audience will have a rare opportunity to hear an internationally acclaimed full chamber orchestra when the Irish Chamber Orchestra performs Monday, Oct. 24, at the University of Wyoming.

The concert, featuring pianist Leon Fleisher, begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts concert hall. Tickets cost $28 for the public and $23 for students and senior citizens. Tickets are available at the Wyoming Union information desk and Fine Arts box office, or online at www.uwyo.edu/finearts.

The UW performance is part of on an eight-city tour of the United States sponsored by Imagine Ireland, a year-long season of Irish arts in America in 2011. The tour is an initiative of Culture Ireland, with funding from the Department of Tourism, Culture and Sport. Laramie's Hilton Garden Inn is the local sponsor.

"This is a rarity for us, because we generally cannot afford a full chamber orchestra, one from abroad, no less," says UW Cultural Programs Director Cedric Reverand.

Fleisher will perform Prokofiev's "Piano Concerto for the Left Hand." A Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, Fleisher received the Kennedy Center Honors Award for 2007 and was named "Instrumentalist of the Year" by the Royal Philharmonic Society in 2010.
