Singer, pianist and songwriter Nicole Berke will perform a free concert at 8 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 26, in the University of Wyoming Union Ballroom.

Originally from Boston, Mass., Berke grew up in a family of musicians and was heavily influenced by the musical talents of her parents. After years of meticulous practice and exploring various musical genres, she has grown into a talented singer, pianist and songwriter whose unique and soulful sound connects with her audiences in honest and personal ways.

"I respect all different sounds and styles as long as it's something the songwriters believe in," Berke says. "To me, soul means something you can hear and feel in your gut, it's believable."

Berke visited UW in March and expressed a great fondness for Laramie. She returns with two members of her band, drummer Josh Lava and guitarist Bill Marsh. Berke also is offering a free download of one of her songs to UW students, faculty and community members. To access the download, visit www.nicoleberkemusic.com and use the access code UofWLaramie2011.

The show is sponsored by the Student Activities Council. Individuals needing assistance to attend the event may contact the SAC at (307) 766-6340. For more information, visit www.uwyo.edu/sac.
