Classics Today called Calmus a "perfectly balanced ensemble, every note and every chord is given exacting importance and delivered in the most vocally attractive, musically expressive style."
Calmus was started by former members of the boys' choir at the Thomaskirche in Leipzig, one of the world's most famous choirs, which dates back to 1212. The group includes a soprano to fill out the upper register, allowing the group to perform a wide range of musical styles.
The first-prize winner of the Concert Artists Guild competition in 2009, Calmus has produced 10 albums. Not limited to traditional works, Calmus has a series of its own arrangements as well as commissioned works in its repertoire.
