Free Thanksgiving Dinner and Concert for UW Students, Faculty and Family
November 2, 2011 — The free Student Activities Council Thanksgiving dinner will be held Wednesday, Nov. 16, from 5-7 p.m., in the University of Wyoming Union Ballroom.
With food catered by Altitude Chophouse and Brewery, students will be able to enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving meal with all the fixings; pumpkin pie included.
Beginning at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 9, free tickets will be available at the Wyoming Union information desk to students with a valid UW student ID. Additional tickets for spouses, partners or children will be available for $5. UW students' children under age 12 will be able to eat for free. Tickets will be given out on a first-come-first-serve basis.
The SAC Thanksgiving Dinner provides all students, including those who may not normally celebrate Thanksgiving as part of their culture, an opportunity to experience this unique American holiday, says Anna Rader, SAC lead student programmer.
"Last year was our first time providing this dinner and it went very well," Rader says. "Not only did we give away all of our tickets, but people showed up without tickets asking for food. It was also a wonderful opportunity for many of our international students to experience Thanksgiving and learn what it is all about."
The UW Department of Music's Big Band along with other student combos will provide live music and entertainment for diners throughout the evening.
Individuals needing assistance to attend this event should call (307) 766-6340. For more information visit the website at www.uwyo.edu/sac.
