UW to Host Regional Residence Halls Conference

November 9, 2011

More than 350 Residence Hall Association (RHA) executives, delegates and advisers representing 31 schools from throughout the region will hold their regional conference Nov. 10-13 at the University of Wyoming.

UW's RHA will host the Intermountain Association of College and University Residence Halls (IACURH) Conference.

"The IACURH Conference is an opportunity for schools to come together and learn from each other's Residence Life and Dining programs, brainstorm new ideas and promote cooperation among regional schools," says UW RHA President Jake Calzavara.

Conference attendees will take part in programming sessions, social activities and numerous informative presentations. Additionally, a legislative boardroom session is incorporated, where schools help determine the regional association's future directions.

Calzavara says that through the conference activities participants are encouraged to grow as leaders and learn new ways to make an impact at their respective campuses.

Conference attendees will also participate in a service project to gather and produce soup kits for Interfaith Good Samaritan. Packets will be distributed throughout the remainder of the fall and winter to Albany County families in need.

UW RHA won the "bid" to host this year's conference through an extensive application and presentation process at last year's conference in Montana.

Conference sponsors are the Albany County Tourism Board, ASUW, Pepsi, Show and Tell Products, Staples, Coal Creek Coffee, Pedal House, Quilted Corner, UW Campus Activities Center, UW SLCE, Safe Ride, UW Residence Life & Dining Services and the Division of Student Affairs.
