The University of Wyoming hockey club returned from its month-long winter break, scoring 31 goals in two wins last weekend against the University of Colorado-Denver, a first-year club.
The Cowboys -- led by Noah Crank (Cheyenne), Ethan Crockett (Cheyenne) and Mitch Nelson (Sheridan) -- snapped a five-game losing streak with 15-1 and 16-4 victories at the Laramie Community Ice and Event Center.
Crank, Crockett and Nelson combined for 25 points (14 goals, 11 assists) for UW. Jake Bates (Jackson), Taylor Freeman (Parker, Colo.), Dustin Galbreath (Highlands Ranch, Colo.), Kyle Earley (Highlands Ranch, Colo.), Jim Fried (Kirkwood, Mo.), Ian Gonnella (Jackson), Dan Lang (Casper), Willy Miller (Arvada, Colo.), Ben Squires (Centennial, Colo.), Levi Wood (Cheyenne) and Tyler Young (Douglas) also recorded multiple points for the Cowboys in the weekend sweep.
Timothy Hill (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Ben Steele (Los Angeles) earned victories in goal.
UW (5-11) plays a pair of games this weekend at Williston (N.D.) State College. The Tetons (6-11) are in their first year of competition.
