UW Unveils WyoMobile App
March 5, 2012 — A new WyoMobile App provides a new way for students, faculty and staff members to have the University of Wyoming at their fingertips.
The Division of Information Technology has published a new mobile app for the university.
"We've seen huge increases in the numbers of mobile devices on campus," says Jennifer Chavez , IT information services project manager. "Creating a mobile application for the university gives users of mobile devices a way to easily access many of the university's resources."
Available for iPhone, iPad, and Android devices, the WyoMobile App features access to campus news and events, library resources, on-campus dining menus, the UW Bookstore, the Outreach School, athletics and a campus map. Through the app, students can access their class schedules, and the app provides easy access to UW's YouTube channel and Office of Admissions' Twitter feed.
"The Division of Information Technology has once again provided the UW community and external users with broad and progressive technological access to UW, its programs and services," says Sara Axelson, vice president for Student Affairs. "How exciting that we now have a mobile application for the world to see."
UW developers anticipate continued improvements to the app and plan to add further functionality in coming months.
"We will continue to improve on this first release of WyoMobile," Chavez says. "New features will be automatically updated for current users via the Android Marketplace and the Apple App Store."
