UW A Capella Group to Perform Locally

The University of Wyoming's male a capella ensemble, the Happy Jacks, will perform May 7-15 in Douglas, Newcastle, Sheridan, Jackson, Rock Springs and Rawlins, and Rapid City, S.D. 

The Happy Jacks will visit schools in each community for free clinics and residencies, as well as perform free evening concerts.

The Happy Jacks, a group that auditioned from the university's larger men's choir, the UW Singing Statesmen, perform a wide range of hits that include classics from the '60s, contemporary chart-toppers and original compositions. The ensemble has performed at UW sporting events, for alumni and students, and served as featured performers at an arts festival in Shanghai, China. the group also has performed with internationally known a cappella groups Basix and Tonic Sol-fa.

Nicole Lamartine, assistant professor in the Department of Music, is the group's faculty adviser.

Monday, May 7: Douglas High School Auditorium, 7 p.m.

Tuesday, May 8: Newcastle High School Auditorium, 7 p.m.

Wednesday, May 9:  Main Street Square, Rapid City, S.D., 5:30 p.m.

Thursday, May 10: Main Street Square, Rapid City, S.D., 5:30 p.m.

Friday, May 11: WYO Theater, Sheridan, 7:30 p.m.

Monday, May 14:  Jackson Hole High School Auditorium, 7 p.m.

Tuesday, May 15: Rock Springs Jr. High Auditorium, 7 p.m.

Wednesday, May 16: Rawlins High School Fine Arts Auditorium, 7:30 p.m.
