E2e Conference at UW Focuses on Energy

Opportunities in the fossil fuels industry and developing successful energy-related businesses are the topics for the second annual e2e conference Sept. 20-21, at the at the University of Wyoming Conference Center inside the Hilton Garden Inn.

The conference, “Developing a Technology Business: Energy,” is part of the Wyoming Technology Business Center's (WTBC) e2e networking program. e2e is an educational program with chapters in Laramie, Sheridan and Gillette to improve the climate for the start-up and growth of entrepreneurial companies. Cost for attending the conference is included with an e2e membership.

“Developing a Technology Business: Energy” will feature speakers who will talk about opportunities and trends in fossil fuels as well as different strategies early-stage companies can follow in funding their company, developing a product, building a team and planning a successful exit, says Jon Benson, WTBC chief executive officer (CEO).

“While the emphasis is on developing an energy business, the discussions will be equally relevant to all types of high-growth companies,” he says. “We are excited to have such an impressive group of speakers join us at this event. If you’re currently involved with a start-up or have an interest in launching a business, you don’t want to miss this conference.”

He will discuss “Developing an Energy Business: Energy.” Ambre Fuels is a segment of Ambre Energy, a  thermal coal mining and export business, with operations in the U.S. and Australia.

Two panels of individuals with diverse experiences in the energy industry will share insights of the energy industry Friday, Sept. 21.

The first group of panelists will discuss how their companies developed and issues related to growing an energy business at 8:30 a.m.

On the panel with Grove will be Mark Clayton, vice president of corporate relations for Skyonic Corporation of Austin, Texas; Mike Wandler, L&H Industrial president, Gillette; and Dianne Wyss, principal and board member of River Basin Energy, Highlands Ranch, Colo.

The second panel at 10:30 a.m. will focus on opportunities and trends in the energy industry. Speakers are Don Collins, CEO of Western Research Institute, Laramie; Jeff Garwood, Liberation Capital managing member, Charlotte, N.C.; Rob Hurless, UW School of Energy Resources deputy director and energy strategy adviser to Gov. Matt Mead; and Tom Russial, North America representative for Global CCS Institute, Chevy Chase, Md.
