International Relations Expert to Speak in Laramie, Casper and Sheridan
October 2, 2012 — An expert on international relations will discuss “Challenges and Opportunities Facing the European Union and the Eurozone” Oct. 8-10 in Laramie, Casper and Sheridan.
Emek Uçarer, professor and chair of the International Relations Department at Pennsylvania’s Bucknell University, is the speaker. She is widely recognized for her work on the politics of the European Union's immigration and asylum policies, and the contributions of nongovernmental organizations to policymaking in this field.
Monday, Oct 8, 5 p.m. -- University of Wyoming Union Family Room;

Wednesday, Oct. 10, 6 p.m. -- Sheridan College, Presentation Hall C-TEL.
Ucarer is the author of numerous book chapters and articles in journals such as Cooperation and Conflict, International Studies Perspectives, International Politics, Ethnic and Racial Studies, and Third World Quarterly.
Ucarer’s talk is part of the statewide Global and International Studies Lecture Series and World to Wyoming Initiative. It is funded by a U.S. Department of Education Undergraduate International Studies and Foreign Language grant to UW’s Global and Area Studies Program in partnership with Wyoming’s seven community colleges.
The lecture series is sponsored by the UW International Global and Area Studies Program, and the Wyoming Humanities Council. The lecture in Casper is sponsored by Casper College, and the lecture in Sheridan is sponsored by Sheridan College.
