Safe trick-or-treating, safe candy and an escape from cold weather are all priorities on Halloween night. The University of Wyoming will provide a safe place for trick-or-treaters to participate in games and activities Wednesday, Oct. 31.
The Wyoming Union will host its annual event, Safe Treat, from 4-6 p.m. Families with children of all ages are welcome to join in on the fun. Costumes are encouraged.
The union will be the starting point of the night where 30-35 recognized student organizations will give out candy and host games. Trick-or-treaters are welcome to continue trick-or-treating on Fraternity Row, Sorority Row. Additionally, activities and games will be offered in the Washakie Center basement, although there won’t be trick-or-treating in the residence halls.
“This is a really great event for UW students to interact with the community and provide safe candy and a cold weather alternative,” says Ryan O’Neil, Wyoming Union special events coordinator. “The union estimates hosting more than 1,000 trick-or-treaters. It is great we have so many students on campus willing to help make the event successful for the community.”
Attendees also can contribute to the Laramie Interfaith-Good Samaritan organization by donating canned food items in the union. The first 750 contributors will get a prize.
