UW Collegiate Chorale Offers Special Holiday Performance

The University of Wyoming Collegiate Chorale will perform “Solace of the Song: Collegiate Chorale by Candlelight” at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, at St. Matthew’s Cathedral, located at 104 S. Fourth St. in Laramie.

Tickets cost $10.50 for the public, $7.50 for senior citizens and $6.50 for UW students. Tickets can be purchased at www.uwyo.edu/finearts or by calling (307) 766-6666.

UW Music Professor Nicole Lamartine directs the concert, described as a celebration of peace, giving and community. The performance will include a premiere of “Magnificat,” composed by Forrest Pierce from the University of Kansas.

UW vocal arts faculty soloists Maureen Boddicker, Larry Hensel and Zach Vreeman will perform with the chorale. Pre-concert music will be provided by Lisa Rickard on piano; Rod Garnett on the Moldavian pan flute; and Blake McGee on clarinet. Other guests are Jeff Selden and Bill McKay.

The UW Collegiate Chorale specializes in new works from established composers. The group has performed at prestigious conferences, including the National Collegiate Choral Organization and the National Association for Music Education.
