UW Hosts Events to Combat Hunger and Homelessness

National Hunger and Homeless Awareness Week brings several events to the University of Wyoming Nov. 12-16.

A canned food drive to benefit the Laramie Soup Kitchen is scheduled through Friday, Nov. 16. Donations are accepted in the residence hall lobbies, the Community Center at Bison Run Apartments, and the Service, Leadership and Community Engagement Office (SLCE) in the lower level of the Wyoming Union.

“The Line,” a documentary that chronicles the new face of poverty in America, can be seen Monday, Nov. 12, at 6 p.m. in the Wyoming Union West Ballroom. Free dinner will be provided.

A hunger banquet is scheduled Tuesday, Nov. 13, at 6 p.m. in the Washakie Center Rendezvous Room. The interactive dinner emphasizes the unequal distribution of food in the world. Tickets will be available to students Monday, Nov. 12, and Tuesday, Nov. 13, in the Washakie Dining Center and Tuesday, Nov. 13, in the Wyoming Union.
