Margaret Cogswell’s “Wyoming River Fugues” is among UW Art Museum exhibitions that
will close Friday, Dec. 21.
The final day to see several exhibitions at the University of Wyoming Art Museum is Friday, Dec. 21.
Exhibitions scheduled to end that day are:
“Nature in Bronze: Sculpture from the Art Museum Collection” features wildlife bronzes in the traditional Western American style.
The “Albany County Student Art Exhibition” showcases the artwork created throughout the year by students in all local schools, from elementary to high school.
“Margaret Cogswell: Wyoming River Fugues” is a site-specific exhibition created by New York artist Margaret Cogswell and is the latest in her ongoing series of “River Fugues.” Focused specifically on Wyoming waterways, this installation features video, audio, sculpture and paintings.
“Harry Krug: Serigraphy” features the multi-layered and abstract serigraphs of master printmaker Harry Krug.
“The American Vision of Winslow Homer: The Harper’s Weekly Illustrations” includes a selection of prints from the art museum’s permanent collection by Winslow Homer, who was best known for his images of Americana. The prints on view were included in the popular magazine “Harper’s Weekly.”
“‘Please Give Us One More Boom:’ Oil and Gas in Wyoming” features works from the UW American Heritage Center archives.
“American Regionalism: Selections from the Art Museum Collection” features work from prominent artists such as Grant Wood and Thomas Hart Benton, who were champions of the Regionalist movement following the Great Depression.
The Art Museum will close Dec. 22 for the winter break and for the installation of new exhibitions. The museum will reopen with a free reception Friday, Feb. 1, from 6-8 p.m. and will resume normal hours Saturday, Feb. 2.

“Imagine learning from the masters” is a guiding principle of the UW Art Museum’s programs. Located in the Centennial Complex at 2111 Willett Drive in Laramie, the museum is open Mondays through Saturdays from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Admission is free.
