“Faces of Music,” a photography art exhibition by artist Carter Schultz, will be shown Monday, Jan. 28, through Friday, Feb. 8, in Gallery 234 in the lower level of the Wyoming Union.

“Faces of Music” depicts 11 different artists from a variety of genres. During musical performances at UW during the 2011-2012 school year, Schultz took photographs of these events, which he used to create his exhibition.

The objective of the exhibition is to “highlight the human side of musical performance and to illustrate the common thread of expression that runs through all artists from all genres,” Schultz says. The ultimate goal of “Faces of Music” is to inspire and promote musical performance and study, he adds.

“By representing the emotional effects of musical performance in a different medium, new understanding of the impact of these performances can be gleaned,” Schultz says. “This added perspective allows understanding of the value of musical performance.”

A closing reception is scheduled 5-7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, in Gallery 234.
