Campus Construction Update for March 10

These are among the construction activities scheduled March 10-16 at the University of Wyoming.

Cafe Closure -- Ross Hall Cafe will close for renovation at the end of the business day Friday, March 15, and will remain closed until next fall. The work will include a complete renovation of the food preparation and serving areas, as well as seating areas.

Water Shut Off -- Domestic hot water service will be shut down to the entire Fieldhouse North building for repairs Wednesday, March 13. Building occupants have been notified.

The UW Facilities Planning Office reports the following activities for the week:

Performing Arts Center (Fine Arts, scheduled completion spring 2015) -- Temporary classroom trailers will be placed at the east end of the grass in Fraternity Mall beyond the dead-ball line of the rugby field. Contractors will begin working in the east end of the Fine Arts building.

Enzi STEM Facility (Scheduled completion June 2015) -- Workers will continue to remove stockpiled material and are preparing to remove buried foundations.

Energy Innovation Center (formerly ERC, at 1020 Lewis St.) -- Lewis Street remains closed during construction. The School of Energy Resources and Enhanced Oil Recovery Institute are now located in the EIC. First- and second-floor labs are being occupied. Access to main campus now includes the passage between Engineering and the new EIC, along with access between or through Earth Sciences and the Berry Center. Access to the EIC north entrance will be on Lewis from the east along Lewis. Parking will be limited in areas around construction. Limited handicapped parking may be available south of the EIC and west of the Engineering Building. Work on the third-floor lab and 3-D visualization space will be ongoing. Congestion and traffic on Lewis continues. Watch for UW and contractors’ trucks and equipment.

College of Education Annex Canopy and Connection (North of Education Building and east of Education Annex; scheduled completion August 2013) -- Preconstruction tasks for the project are under way. Limited and sporadic non-construction activity may take place at the project site; access to and through the project site remains unaffected.

Education Annex – Literacy Research Center and Clinic (Lower floor, Education Annex; scheduled completion January 2014) -- The lower (first) floor of the Education Annex has been closed in anticipation of the start of construction. Preconstruction tasks for the project are under way. Limited and sporadic non-construction activity at the project site may occur before the start of asbestos abatement in mid-March.

University of Wyoming/Casper College Student Union (UW/CC Student Union, scheduled completion November 2013) -- The primary building enclosure is complete, allowing interior construction activities to proceed on or ahead of schedule. Rough-in construction is 85 percent complete throughout UW/CC third- and fourth-floor spaces, and preliminary finish construction has started in limited areas. Overall project construction is approximately 70 percent complete.

ESCo Project (Energy Services Company) -- Long Energy Services Co. employees and contractors will work on lighting retrofits at the Centennial Complex first, second and fourth floors. This will have some impact on occupants. Workers will wear identifying badges. Lighting retrofits are scheduled for the Arts and Sciences Building and Education Annex beginning the week of March 18.

White Hall Renovations -- New installations continue on the fifth through 11th floors. Rough-in installations continue in the basement through fourth floor. Window replacement is complete on the fifth through 12th floors, and will continue down each floor. The new east entry block walls are complete with backfill starting. Fencing is placed around the area. The west parking lot will be closed until this summer.

The UW Physical Plant reports the following activities for the week. Please direct questions to the service desk, 766-6225.

Snow Removal -- Physical Plant crews will remove snow as needed throughout the season. Watch for snow removal equipment, be careful and safe during snow events, and call the service desk at 766-6225 to report ice spots and problem areas.

Landmark Square Apartments -- Removal of six trees within the complex area will begin this week. Please use caution around equipment and crews.

Arts and Sciences Building -- Painting of the restrooms will be ongoing this week. Signs will be posted as to which areas will be closed.

Earth Sciences Building -- Painting in the hallways will continue this week. Please use caution around painting crews and equipment.

Anthropology Building -- Entry demolition, insulation and reconstruction are planned for March 15-24. Access to the Lewis Street entrance may be closed intermittently for short periods. Please use the building’s west entrance when the Lewis Street entrance is barricaded. Exercise caution in work areas.

Geology Building -- Renovations to Classroom 216 are ongoing. Please use caution around crews and equipment in this area.

Sorority Row -- The water line has been temporarily repaired, and water service has been restored. A complete water line replacement serving the Tri Delta house is scheduled for the week of May 13.

Beta House -- Renovations are complete.

Ross Hall -- Repairs to the heat valves have been completed.

Wildcatter Stadium Lobby -- Repairs to the lobby ceiling are complete.

Physical Sciences Building -- North side work is complete until spring.
