March is “Youth Art Month” nationwide. To celebrate the occasion, the University of Wyoming Art Museum is offering a series of free Saturday classes for students ages 4–11. The classes will take place March 9, 16 and 30, from 1-3 p.m. each day.

In addition to exploring and making art, students will investigate new ideas and creative processes. Projects will be based on the artwork that is on view in current Art Museum exhibitions.

“The students will spend time in the galleries, following the Art Museum education model of observe, question, explore, create and reflect,” says Rachel Miller, assistant curator. “They also will spend time in the Shelton Studio working on their own art projects.”

To register, contact Art Museum Master Teacher Heather Bender at (307) 766-3515 or hbender1@uwyo.edu. There is no fee for this class, but pre-registration is encouraged. Parents of students 5 years old and younger are asked to remain with their children. Students should wear art-making clothes.
